Here’s a recent example of our work pruning a plum tree this April. We’d reduced it before, in 2022, so the job was to remove and reduce four years of regrowth, reducing back to previous reduction points.

The trick is to leave it looking natural, for long term aesthetics, the health of the tree, and to slow the rate of regrowth.

The after photo was taken from nearer the tree, so that the detail would be clearer. We removed all the vertical regrowth, shortened the remainder, pruned back the lower branches to improve head clearance, and stripped out the ivy. Note the clean, carefully positioned pruning cuts. The result was a better looking, smaller, tidier tree, with more light for both gardens.

As usual we left the owner’s and the neighbour’s gardens neat and tidy, as well as the access route through the house.
