Here’s a recent example of our work pruning a sycamore tree in Hackney.

It had grown too big for the location and was taking too much light from the owners’ and neighbours’ properties.

The job was:

  • notify the council of the intended work as it’s a conservation area. This is a legal requirement, and usually a simple formality for pruning work.
  • reduce back to previous reduction points, maintaining smaller branches.
  • remove any significant dead or dangerous branches.
  • remove any cuttings arising from our work, leaving the work area and access at least as tidy as they were.
Sycamore tree before and after pruning
Sycamore tree before and after pruning. That’s a chimney stack behind the canopy.

It had been several years since it was last done, hence the dramatic difference.

It took us one day.

As usual we had signs out on the pavement to warn pedestrians, and staff on the ground in helmet and high viz top.

It was a full van load of cuttings, as usual responsibly recycled.
